Radford University EPP Dashboard

Welcome to the Radford University Education Preparation Provider (EPP) data dashboard. This dashboard provides individuals, both internal and external, with current data related to the teacher preparation programs housed inside the institution. The four tabs at the top of the page allow users to access different types of information. The Impact Measures and Outcomes Measures are all related to CAEP Standard 4. The Teacher Candidate Data page includes internal EPP assessment data.

If you have any trouble accessing the data or information provided in this dashboard, please contact Joel Hanel at jhanel1@radford.edu.

Impact on P-12 Learning and Teaching Effectiveness

The Commonwealth of Virginia does not provide EPPs with data related to CAEP Standard 4.1 and 4.2. Thus, the EPP has collected data related to both standards through several collection processes. First, the EPP has collected “Summative Evaluations” directly from completers at focus groups and through email. Thus far the EPP has collected 3 summative evaluations from 1st Year Completers in the field as of March 2018. Second, during the most recent EPP focus group, principals were asked if they could share impact information related to program completers (from their first 3 years in the field) who they have hired. Similarly, from the summative evaluations, the EPP has collected observational data from principals. A study that makes inferences from this data can be found at the following link. Overall, the EPP will continue to collect data from completers and will use this information to improve the EPP’s mission of developing teachers to serve the Commonwealth of Virginia. The results suggest that candidates are effective in teaching in the classroom and have a positive impact on their students. These data are limited, but the EPP will continue to collect and learn from our completers and employers to improve education programs at Radford University.

Ability of completers to be hired in education positions for which they have prepared

Using data provided to the EPP from Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), we have found that roughly 75% of our program completers (initial license) are still teaching 2 year years out in the state. This number is dependent upon the divisions reporting these numbers on the date when the report is shared with EPPs (i.e. a candidate may not be listed if their contract was signed after the date of reporting). For advanced level programs, 85% of program completers are employed in the Commonwealth of Virginia 2 years from completing the program. This number is subject to similar reporting error. Similarly, if any candidates move out of state (or District of Columbia), or work in Department of Defense facilities (i.e. the Virginia Beach Area), they are not counted as employed for the VDOE.
