Colleagues,
As many of you are working on your annual October reports for the RU Office of Academic Assessments (OAA), I wanted to provide you with an exemplar that you can use as a model. According to the OAA, the Master of Science in Education program assessment report 2015-2015 is an excellent model to use. I have received permission from Dr. Holly Robbins to share this with the faculty and I am greatly appreciative of her collegiality, which facilitates this process for everyone. Dr. Robbins' full report is linked here in Microsoft Word format.
The only area of improvement identified in this report was the description of the Program Outcomes, which is a challenge across campus. For guidance on Program Outcomes, the OAA has developed the Academic Assessment Handbook, which provides a description of Program Outcomes on page 13.

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) provided feedback on our Early Instrument Review (July 2016). The Rubric Writing Team is now addressing the suggested revisions within each of the instruments. CAEP feedback focused on three main areas:

How we describe the instrument and assessment process to faculty and students;

How we determine and implement our basis for judgement (e.g., ratings such as “unsatisfactory," “proficient,” etc.);

Our process for establishing validity and reliability.

CAEP and the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) signed a partnership agreement (July 2016).

Virginia Board of Education (VBOE) has sole responsibility for program approval.

VBOE will use the CAEP Program Review with Feedback report and biennial measures for continuing program approval.

Tammy and I will be meeting with all programs to review biennial standards.
